The last time Ramiel went to Heathrow’s departure gate was when he decided to go back to Indonesia, since living in London was too much for him. The city was branded with the memories of Eden everywhere he went, and at that time he thought maybe by staying someplace else that had no recollection about the love of his life would make things a little bit easier. Yet now he feels like a fool who never learned his lesson, as the new place is also branded by someone else —someone who gave her all only to save him from the living hell he created for himself. Someone who he took for granted.

To what does he deserve such love?

“Ramiel,” Grace halts Ramiel from his steps when they finally reach the departure gate. “Can I have five minutes with you?”

“Sure, Grace.” Ramiel looks at the woman in front of him. He can’t help but notice the amount of resemblance Eden had with her mother; they have the same eyes, nose shape, hair color.

That’s when he realizes that it’s still painful, yet somehow bearable. Seeing someone who looks so much like Eden no longer gives him the urge to drown himself underwater. It just feels like he’s looking at a beautiful memory.

“I know we’ve found the person who received Eden’s eyes. I know that all the things that’s related to her are madly important to you. I know that you’re still looking for closure, maybe for forgiveness too —so boy, kindly know that you’re forgiven for everything since it’s never your fault to begin with. You’ve given Eden beautiful life —and even though it’s short, it’s a happy life. I’m grateful everyday that Eden met you in this lifetime.

But I have to say this: please stop taking the life and the person you have now for granted. So much for letting go, that you forgot the living is far more significant than those who already left us, Ram… There’s no point in trying to make sense of the grief we’ve felt for Eden; if anything, I know my daughter best, and I’m solid that her only wish for you is to continue living, and loving, and be loved. And sweetheart, you’ve found the love that you deserve through Haven —please, please love her whole. Can’t you see, Ram? Even their names share the same meaning. I know Eden sent her. You loving her doesn’t void the love you once had for Eden.”

Ramiel feels like being hit in the heart with a goddamn wrecking ball —at the same time, he also felt a truckload of burden has been lifted off of his shoulder.

“Carry on with your life, Ramiel. Let yourself to receive love and let it heals you. You can come back here anytime, knowing that life has forgiven you for everything.”

Ramiel throws himself to hug Grace and sobs quietly on her shoulder.

“Send my love to Haven, and please let her know that we’re so grateful for her —for she has saved someone I cherished so much. Now it’s time for you to save her too.”
